First steps and facts about healthy eating
You are a survivor, the end result of thousands of generations that came before you. However, the last 100 years has seen an unprecedented change in our diet – fast food, processed food, food that really isn’t healthful food.
“So what?” you ask. “We’re living longer than our ancestors ever did.” The reason the majority of us live longer is largely due to sanitation and mass immunization as reported in the 1999 Merck Manual. A list was compiled of the top 100 advances in medicine of the 20th century. Topping the list were control of infections, mass immunization and the discovery of vitamins. Unfortunately, vitamin or nutritional therapy is not widely taught in medical schools. Yes, we might indeed be living longer, but too many of us are not exactly leaping into old age: rather, we are limping there, struggling with diseases that can make our so-called golden years extremely unpleasant.
Lifestyle Choices
The World Health Organization reports that 75% of all early mortality is caused by lifestyle choice (a lack of life-giving vitamins, minerals and other nutrients), smoking, excessive drinking, little physical activity, and obesity.

Specific supplements, and herbal or homeopathic remedies, can also be effective. Other lifestyle changes to gain stress relief such as relaxation techniques, visualization, a reduced workload, rest, and a good night’s sleep are also an important part of the recovery process, but gaining nutrition information is an effective, rewarding place to begin.
